# History and people

> The call log, filters, your address book, favourites, and per-contact settings.

## Recents

Every call, both lines, newest first. Each row carries the line it used — a
green **SIP** badge or a grey **CELL** one — and a **REC** badge if it was
recorded. Missed calls are in red, and repeated calls to the same party collapse
into one row with a count.

The chips across the top are the quick filters: **All**, **Missed**,
**FireTone**. The funnel beside them opens the full set.

Direction, line, a time window, and *only recorded*. Long-pressing the search
icon opens the same drawer, which is quicker once you know it.

Swipe a row **left** to delete it, **right** to play its recording. The two
buttons at the right of the chip strip are voicemail and your recordings.

<Note>
  On the iPhone, Recents is FireTone's own history and covers FireTone calls
  properly. iOS does not open the system call log to any app, so calls you make
  from the Phone app are not here — FireTone logs the ones it hands off itself,
  which is as close as the platform allows.

## Contacts

Your phone's address book, read only — FireTone does not create or change
contacts, and nothing is uploaded. Search matches names and SIP addresses.

Two gestures worth knowing:

* **Swipe left** for Favourites.
* **Swipe right** for the filter view — by line, by letter, or by recording rule.

Starred contacts appear as cards with the call button on them. Star somebody
from their page.

## One person

Their page carries two settings that outrank the app-wide ones for this person
only:

* **Channel** — Auto, FireTone or Carrier. Auto follows your default line.
* **Recording** — Auto, Always or Never. Always and Never both beat the app-wide
  policy, in either direction.

**SIP info** is where you give somebody a SIP address, so calling them reaches
their extension rather than their mobile. Below that, every call you have had
with them, and any recordings.

  When a standing line override is set, this page says so rather than pretending
  the Channel chooser is in charge: *"Overridden: every call goes over the
  carrier, whatever is chosen here. Hold the dial button to clear it."*
