FireTone is licensed by the FireFlo licence server at verify.fireflo.au, the same one that licenses the FireFlo gateway. One licence covers one installation: the control plane and every switch node in its fleet.

Getting a licence

  1. Sign in at verify.fireflo.au and issue a licence, choosing FireTone CloudPBX as the product. The key starts FTON- and is shown once.
  2. In the FireTone panel, signed in as the operator, open Settings → Licence, paste the key and choose Activate.
The key is sent to the licence server with this installation’s id, and kept (sealed, like every other credential) only once the server accepts it. A mistyped key never replaces a working one. From then on the licence renews itself twice a day; Renew now does it at once. The licence is checked here, against a public key built into FireTone, not by asking the server on every call. The server being unreachable costs nothing until the current licence’s term runs out.

Without internet: offline activation

For an installation that cannot reach verify.fireflo.au:
  1. Settings → Licence → Offline activation: paste the FTON- key and choose Create request. Copy the request it shows.
  2. On any machine with internet, open verify.fireflo.au/offline, paste the request, and copy the licence it issues.
  3. Back in FireTone, paste that licence and choose Install licence.
The licence is verified here exactly as an online one is: it must be FireTone’s, and issued to this installation. The key is kept only once its licence is installed, so a mistyped key never replaces a working one. An offline installation does not renew itself, so it stops trying the network. Make a new request before the date the Licence screen shows, within the licence’s 14 days (7 more of grace follow). A renewal needs no key pasted: the one held is used. Activating a key online later returns the installation to renewing itself.

What a licence allows

0 means unlimited. The Licence screen shows each limit beside what is in use now.

Status, and what each one means for calls

A licence is current for 14 days and renews itself long before then, so a lapse means it has failed to renew for three weeks. When lapsed, calls already up finish, phones stay registered, and this panel keeps working, so a key can be activated and calls resume at once.

When activation is refused

The licence server says why, and the panel shows it as it came:
